口译点滴积累之: 奶嘴男+肌肉男+食草男

奶嘴男: Mama's boy，也可称作mummy's boy或者mother's boy, 顾名思义，就是ungrown boys（永远长不大的男人）。这样的男人不分年龄大小，高矮胖瘦。没结婚前，妈妈是他的 “nipple（奶嘴）”，结婚了，妻子便成了他的另一个“奶嘴”。

专家称mama's boy（奶嘴男）多为the only child（独生子女），父母的spoil(溺爱)，凡事包办，造成了他们的依赖思想，尤其是对母亲有着一种无法割舍的依赖，他们从精神上还没有 “ablactation(断奶)”，有一定的Oedipus complex/ mother complex(恋母情结)。他们常把“mom said（妈妈说）”放在嘴边，或者总需要各种无微不至的照顾。

肌肉男: muscle boy.muscle这个词来自于拉丁文“little mouse”,很明显，罗马人举重时，宽袍子下面的肌肉就像小老鼠。

如今，muscle还表示努力挤进去。比如：He muscled his way onto the crowded subway car. Muscle还可以用来形容五大三粗的保镖。A “lot of muscle”就是说很多保镖。在很多黑帮片里你经常可以听到这个词。比方说：That gangster has a lot of enemies, so he always brings a lot of muscle when he comes to town.

食草男：herbivorous boy （食草动物：herbivore; 食草恐龙：herbivorous dinosaur）

反义词：食肉男：carnivorous boy (食肉动物：carnivore)

就像食草动物一样，他们友善温和，但在婚恋关系上却总少了些男子汉应有的主动(have no interest in actively pursuing women)，他们缺乏信心，喜欢独处 (most herbivorous boys lack self-confidence, like to spend time alone, and use internet a lot.) 食草男往往没有传统的男子阳刚气(reject traditional masculinity)

食草男的思维模式(mindset)也导致了他们不同的消费观（different attitude about consumption）. They don’t buy things to show off. Partly because they can’t afford to.

　　80、90后的男人越来越多地具备了“草食性”倾向，一场“草食化运动”似乎在全世界的男人中悄然兴起。之所以有这么多的食草男主要还是经济压力大。（an apparent reaction to the tough economy.）
